Multiple Products: What Am I Doing Wrong?

Under aMember CP --> Advanced, I have my system set up to allow multiple products, and multiple products on Members page.

I have an existing subscription to Product #1.

Product #14 is set up in such a way that it's only available if you have an ACTIVE subscription to Product #1.

I go to sign up a subscription to Product #14, and aMember forces me to create a new username and password.

What am I doing wrong? I don't want to create a new username and password, I just want to give additional access to the existing account.

    Thanks

One additional point that's possibly at the root of my entire problem.

I'm trying, wherever possible, to bypass the amember/member.php page (I just don't like the way it looks, and I'm trying to steer clear of it whenever I can), so the link that allows me to sign up for Product #14 takes me to the following URL:
    /amember/signup.php?price_group=14

Even if that's the problem, I still need to access the signup for additional products via the URL unless I want to learn Smarty and redesign the entire member.php page. Not an attractive option.

If you are going to order additional product, you must go to
    amember/member.php
signup.php will not work in this case, and it is impossible to change.

(price_group) can be used with member.php as with signup.php
