Hello We are setting up an account with PaySystems.com Can we do recurring billing with them? Is there a plug in required... if so is one available or will we have to design one ourselves? Also, can aMember be set to charge in the following ways.... 1. $10 for initial sign up... then recurring at $5 per month 2. $2.99 for a 3 day trial Thanks for your time and help Sincerely Eric Bonnici www.aj2000.com
Eric, aMember has plugin for Paysystems.com with recurring billing support. It is shipped with aMember Pro by default and it is named "revecom". Unfortunately, this plugin doesn't support trial periods.
Paysystems billing cycles? I was just approved today for a Paysystems account. In testing, I see that the amount to be charged is going through, but the 1 month cycle is being interpreted as 1 day. I don't think I'd get many signups for $10 per day! I understand that this is probably something on Paysystem's end, but can anyone tell me anything about this? In looking through the Paysystems control panel, it looks like they only support billing cycles in pre-defined number of days, and only up to 36 cycles before billing stops. I'm hoping to keep members for much longer than 3 years, and billing that slips back 5 days a year is a little annoying. Much better to be consistent. Any information here will be greatly appreciated. - Alan
Thanks, but how does that work? Thanks Alex. I know that you used Paysystems for a while, but I'm not sure if you used them for recurring billing or not. Do you know how a 30 day cycle is generally received by customers? I would think that a monthly subscription that is billed every 30 days would upset a number of customers. Since the billing date keeps getting earlier in the month, they might think I am cheating them. Also the confusion about what is being charged. I know that when I sign up for a membership site, I expect to see the charge on the same day each month, otherwise I start wondering what's happened. Also, I'm hoping to have members for much longer than the 3 years that's possible with their setup. Do you have any information about whether this really happens, or is 3 years plenty of time for 98% of all memberships?
Alan, if you will advertise it as 30-days subscription, not 1-month, it should not cause any questions. A lot of recurring billings do it. Anyway, there are no other ways to setup it with paysystems. I have no stats for recurring billing (as I never started it). However, I believe nobody will keep subscribed for so long time. It is not worse, you just have to seek for new subscribers all time and update your content.
