I had a miserable time trying to get Paysystems working with aMember.
I spent 3 weeks opening the account and trying to get their end configured properly - I got so frustrated that I dumped them and ended on 2checkout - got it working in 10 minutes and its still working well.

Paysystems had never heard of aMember (Which doesnt matter too much) but to open an account they required every piece of personal and business ID I think I own - very concerning.....
I plan to close the account, but they still have copies of my drivers licence, passport, Social Security Card, all my corporate bank accounts and credit card numbers.
The PaySystem tech guys were pretty much clueless, if you dont have shopping cart, they dont speak your language. I dont know if anyone had similar experiences.
The final straw was, after all that crap, I found out that paysystems doesnt offer a real IPN - They offer DPN, Delayed Payment Notification - (Those crazy canucks create more confusion by calling it IPN) - it posts sales data 3 hours later. This means that aMember doesnt receive the IPN (DPN) until 3 hours later - there is nothing "instant" about that. Even Paypal does better than that !
The TCO and support issues went crazy. People would pay and then not have access until 3 hours later, which meant they thought they had been ripped off and then they would complain up the wazoo taking the TCO with it.

2Checkout hasnt been a bed of roses either though, the system is great - but they had a huge denial of service last week - so sales were hit substantially for all 2checkout users.

Damn, cant you become your own credit card merchant processor and be done with these companies ?
Dont even mention Verisign Payflow, I spent a couple of hours on the phone with the sales rep trying to understand the model and I am still confused :-(

    Hey there

"nytix2", did you end up finding a payment system that you were happy with. I was considering using 2checkout.com - because I live in Australia but your post has kinda scared me off them. Not many payment systems seem to be Aussie friendly that's for sure.

    Kind regards
    Mandy

    Guys,
2Checkout had some good response to their DOS problems, which went on a lot longer than expected.
I dont think I could have handled it as well as they did.
Below is some of the information posted on their site and their response to each situation (None of their fault of course as anyone can be hit by a DOS)

Sep 26, 2003: Please read this letter to our vendors from our Chief Information Officer regarding the recent sellers downtime.
    http://sellers.2checkout.com/cio_message.html
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sep 24, 2003: Today a new DDOS attack came in against the Sellers server. The sellers area was inaccessible for roughly 2 hours.

The sellers area machine was updated to block the attack and is now functioning normally again.

We apologize for the inconvenience that the attack caused.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sep 18, 2003: Several adjustments were made today to improve the slow database response times that vendors might have experienced in the seller's area. The slow database repsonses caused the sellers area to frequently become unavailable over the last few days.

Our routine monitoring of the situation shows that there is a marked improvement in speed and performance. We apologize for the inconvenience the slow responses were causing.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sep 12, 2003 : We experienced a DDoS attack today that was aprox. 3 times as heavy as the previous attack. We were able to block the attack in about 3 hours.

Our buyers server was able to maintain sales through portions of the attack.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sep 9, 2003 (update): The DDOS attack is under control. 2Checkout regrets that we were not able to throttle the attack faster. However, the lessons learned will allow us to prepare for and respond faster to a DoS attack should one reoccur.

It is unfortunate that the people that launch such attacks do not know or do not care that they are affecting the livelihood of tens of thousands of hard working men and women. 2Checkout certainly realizes it, as our jobs and families depend on the company as well. We will do all we can to ensure that ourselves and our clients and customers do not suffer from such attacks in the future.

The matter has been turned over to our FBI contacts who will be investigating this attack as the major criminal act that it was. We will assist the FBI completely and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sep 8, 2003 (update): The denial of service attack is continuing and we are still working to restore system normalcy. We are working with local and national law enforcement to track the source of this attack and will continue to post updates here.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sep 8, 2003: 2Checkout was hit by a DDoS (distributed denial of service attack) this morning. The exact hours of this attack are unknown at this time but ran from roughly 6:00am EDT to 9:45am EDT. During this period, access to the 2Checkout web servers were limited.

Actions have been taken by 2Checkout and our upstream provider to keep this from happening again and to identify the people responsible.

The sellers area may experience short periods of downtime during the rest of the day while we gather evidence to turn over to law enforcement and add software enhancements to more effectively deal with a situation like this in the future. The buyers machines have been affected and we are working at filtering the malicious packets out, so processing can be accomplished.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aug 21, 2003: Reminder to Vendors that Sept. 1st falls on a long weekend in the USA. Payments will be issued on Sept 2nd. Also please note that our call center will be closed on Sept. 1st.

I found out one of the problems with paysystems and amember

you need to have the right type of account

there is tpp-sale account and tpp-pro.

tpp-sale means you use there shopping cart and features

tpp-pro means you use your own.

Amember will not work unless you are using a tpp-pro account.
