I need to decide whether to use Paysystems or 2Checkout for my membership site, which involves recurring billing. Here's what I know, and I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has actual experience with either of them, pro and con: - Both of them support recurring billing, as far as I know. - I've heard (from a biased source) that 2Checkout's downtime is 30%! - The only time I've used 2Checkout to buy something, it took over 10 minutes to process the order, so I wasn't impressed. I'm not sure I've used Paysystems to compare. - Paysystems' sales rep says 2Checkout's rates are higher (5% and $.50 USD/transaction), yet Paysystems' takes 3.9-5.5% and $.35-1.00 USD/transaction. - Online, I've read that 2Checkout has had delayed payment problems, and that they hold your first payments for a month. - Both apparently hold a "rolling reserve" of 5%, meaning they hold back that much of what they owe you to cover chargebacks. Finally, re: all this and aMemberPro, if I'm using aMember Pro as the linchpin, or what someone goes through first to join as a member (subscribe), apparently I don't need something like Miva Merchant, even though i have free access to it, correct? Paysystems.Com problem is that payment processing takes 1-3 hours until payment confirmation comes to your site. Also, I've been their client for about a year. They send me payouts weekly without any problems. However, it happened that some payouts have been lost ($4,000 value). I don't think that it is fraud from Paysystems.com side, but it happened in October,2003 and still haven't got any help from Paysystems staff to resolve this issue and find money. It is why I closed my paysystems.com account and now use SWREG to process my payments.
I have dealt with both of them, infact I still do! Both companies pretty much lack any support that is worth anything. One thing my company prides itself in is excellent and quick support. 2checkout has lost some of my money at one time as well, and basically ignores my attempts to recover it. Both processors do a decent job, but dont expect good support, as you most likely wont receive it. Atleast not in a timely manner. If you want a processor to use with amember, and those are your only 2 choices, then I would have to go with 2checkout, ONLY because the payment confirmation is about 50 times faster than paysystems.com. Hope I have helped some.
